This emerges from a current analysis of the graphics card market in Germany and Austria, which was created by 3DCenter, the cost of GeForce RTX 30-series and Radeon RX 6000 graphics accelerators fell to their lowest level in the last 15 months by the end of March. At the same time, for the current month, NVIDIA graphics cards cheaper than AMD models.
While earlier this month the average price for AMD Radeon graphics cards was 35% over the recommended price and NVIDIA graphics cards were 41% higher, the average markup for offerings from both manufacturers today is 25%. Since January 2022, the cost of accelerators has decreased by 10 percentage points every month. Thanks to this, the current prices have reached the values of the end of 2020.
The majority of retailers are still reluctant to release forecasts of when graphics card costs will drop to their recommended levels. However, the portal tech radar still managed to get a comment from one of them. In his opinion, prices for graphics cards could become “attractive” again for normal consumers by May.
“I believe that the price of graphics cards will continue to adjust with the slowing market boom that is coming to an end. By late April or early May, accelerator prices should become more attractive to buyers.”— said the representative of the British retailer Box Tyler Davies (Tyler Davies).
Other sellers are not yet in a hurry with such statements. However, the fact that the cost of accelerators has been declining on a monthly basis for the most recent quarter could speak to such optimistic forecasts. And by the end of the second quarter of this year, at least in Europe, it will be possible to find offers in stores as close as possible to the recommended prices.
