“Now 200% more performance issues”: Players are smashing The Outer Worlds Remaster rating on Steam due to obnoxious optimization

portal PC gamer It struck me that Obsidian Entertainment’s March 7th remaster of the satirical role-playing game The Outer Worlds on Steam is garnering nothing but terrible reviews. On the consoles it does not look much better after the first reactions.

Recall that in The Outer Worlds: Spacer’s Choice Edition (the so-called new release), publisher Private Division promised smooth 60 frames/s at 4K, improved graphics, smarter satellites and an increase in the maximum level to 99.

Spacer’s Choice Edition on Steam is “Very Negative” reviews (only 19% positive out of 173). The base The Outer Worlds, their rating for the last 30 days lowered too mixed.

players complain deterioration Performance compared to the original game (system requirements increased further): “‘Upgraded’ graphics aren’t worth the massive drawdowns and stuttering never experienced before”.

“You tried the best, now try everything. Edition “Only Space”. Now 200% more performance issues!” – summarizes the situation of a user under a pseudonym Akerwald.

There are similar comments on the Reddit forum: JBamby01 with the RTX 3070 complains of regular stuttering, and gamers whose PCs can run Cyberpunk 2077 at 60 fps with ray tracing, questions Add DLSS/FSR.

Even consoles have not avoided the problems: neither the PS5 (see video above) can keep the promised 60 frames/s Xbox Series X. In addition, the game suffers from problems with the so-called frame time.

To make matters worse, Spacer’s Choice Edition wasn’t given away to owners of The Outer Worlds for free, it was sold for cash, which is particularly ironic given the game’s ridiculousness about modern corporate culture.

The Outer Worlds: Spacer’s Choice Edition is available on PC (Steam, GOG, Epic Games Store, Microsoft Store), PS5, Xbox Series X and S. To upgrade to the $10 remaster you must own the base game and both addons.
