Passkey is an innovative cryptographic key technology. When creating a passkey, the user receives two keys: the public key is stored on the company’s server and the private key is stored directly on the user’s device. Once your identity is confirmed, both keys are combined and allow access to your account.

These keys allow you to verify a user’s identity using biometric data such as fingerprints or Face ID. To use Passkey, you need a device with iOS 16, iPadOS 16, macOS 13, Android 9 or higher.

The world of cybersecurity is actively working to eliminate traditional passwords. The FIDO (Fast IDentity Online) Alliance develops standards for passwordless authentication and technology giants such as Apple, Google and Microsoft, members of FIDO, offer their solutions in this area.

According to a study by Digital Shadows, more than 24 billion credentials have been stolen through hacks by 2022 – a 65% increase compared to 2020. Implementing Passkey could be the answer to the growing threat of cybercrime.
