portal IGN Citing his sources, he said that the popular multiplayer role-playing game Star Wars: The Old Republic is preparing for a developer change. Electronic Arts has already commented on the situation.
Remember that Star Wars: The Old Republic was developed by and has been endorsed by Canadian studio BioWare (Mass Effect and Dragon Age), owned by Electronic Arts since its release in 2011.
EA is close to an agreement to transfer The Old Republic to Broadsword Online Games (Ultima Online, Dark Age of Camelot). It is run by former BioWare VP Rob Denton, who has worked on The Old Republic in the past.
In a statement to IGN, EA confirmed discussions with Broadsword, reassuring fans of a bright future for Star Wars: The Old Republic and stressing that its actions are for the good of Star Wars: The Old Republic “The Game and Its Players”.
Currently, the core team of Star Wars: The Old Republic consists of 70-80 people. It is believed that half of this will go to Broadsword and the rest will go to other EA projects.
The developer change will not affect the development of The Old Republic (Patch 7.3 and the next PvP season are on the way), EA will remain the publisher of the game and BioWare can focus on its single player RPGs.
Fantasy Dragon Age: Dreadwolf is in post-production, gearing up for release no earlier than April 2024, and the next Mass Effect (no final name yet) is still in pre-production.
