MSI has quietly updated its Radeon RX 6000 Gaming Trio series of graphics accelerators with new versions of the Radeon RX 6900 XT, RX 6800 XT and RX 6800 of their GPUs.
With MSI releasing multiple graphics cards under its Gaming Trio series, including the recently launched Gaming Z Trio and Gaming Trio Plus, it’s easy to get confused. The names of specific versions of accelerators alone do not make the picture clear. For example, it is unclear why the Gaming Trio Plus variants are faster than the Gaming X Trio.

The accelerators in the Gaming Z Trio are the fastest in the Gaming Trio series. Their GPUs have a more significant factory overclock. However, there are no differences in video memory speed. It works for all MSI Radeon RX 6000 Gaming Trio series graphics cards with AMD specified frequencies.
The Radeon RX 6900 XT Gaming Z is MSI’s fastest RDNA 2 graphics card. The GPU clock of this model can be boosted up to 2452 MHz, which is 60 MHz more than the Gaming X version. The same applies to the Radeon RX 6800 XT. , which is 25MHz faster than the Gaming X version.
As for the external changes of new products. In general, they repeat the design of previous versions, however, the Gaming Z Trio and Gaming Plus models received slightly modified rear reinforcement plates. Incidentally, the new backplate design has already been used by MSI on the Radeon RX 6900 XT Gaming X Trio.
