MSI introduces four versions of the MAG B660M Mortar Board for Alder Lake PCs

MSI has presented four versions of the MAG B660M Mortar motherboard. They will be available in two configurations: with and without Intel Wi-Fi 6 CNVi. A selection of models are offered with support for both DDR5 RAM and DDR4 memory. Externally, the boards only differ in the color chosen – the heat sinks of the cooling system are silver on boards with the Wi-Fi 6 CNVi module, the versions without Wi-Fi are completely black.

All versions of the MAG B660M mortar use the Micro-ATX form factor and also have the same set of internal and external connectors. They each received a PCIe 4.0 x16, PCIe 3.0 x4 and PCIe 3.0 x1, two M.2 slots for NVMe solid-state drives PCIe 4.0 x4 and six SATA connections. Four of them are managed by the Intel B660 chipset, which supports RAID 0, 1, 5 and 10 arrays, the other two are managed by the ASMedia ASM1061 SATA controller.

The MSI MAG B660M Mortar WIFI and B660M Mortar support up to 128 GB DDR5-6200 RAM. DDR4 versions also support up to 128 GB of RAM, but at speeds up to 4800 MHz.

Otherwise, all four versions of the MSI MAG B660M mortar are identical. They received one USB 3.2 Gen 2×2 Type-C, three USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A and four USB 2.0. The 2.5 gigabit Realtek RTL8125BG controller is responsible for the wired network capabilities of the new products. The boards are equipped with the Realtek ALC1200 audio codec as well as DisplayPort 1.4 and HDMI 2.1 connections.

Some versions of the MSI MAG B660M mortar are already on sale. In the UK, the DDR5 variant costs £ 200 ($ 272) while the MSI MAG B660M Mortar DDR4 version costs £ 190 ($ 258).
