Miners have learned to completely remove LHR protection from GeForce RTX 3000 series graphics cards

The developers of the NiceHash service announced the creation of an algorithm that will unlock the mining potential of GeForce RTX 30 series LHR graphics cards by 100%. As a result, the restrictions on cryptocurrency mining previously introduced by Nvidia for gaming graphics cards have become less relevant.

Keep in mind that according to NVIDIA’s plan, the LHR algorithm built into GeForce RTX 30 series graphics cards should slow them down by half when mining Ethereum cryptocurrency and other altcoins. Initially, graphics cards of this series were made without such an algorithm. A little later, however, under pressure from players, NVIDIA began to artificially limit the speed of mining. The first graphics card that received LHR protection was the GeForce RTX 3060. But after a while, NVIDIA itself accidentally released a graphics driver that allowed them to bypass all the limitations. Therefore, the company had to revise the LHR algorithm and add it to all GeForce RTX 3000 models. The only exception was the flagship GeForce RTX 3090 accelerator – the mining performance in it was not reduced.

NiceHash development team was one of the first to partially unlock the power of NVIDIA LHR graphics cards in mining, boosting their efficiency to 70% of potential. The corresponding software was released in August last year. And now, after 9 months, they have learned to bypass the ban completely. All possible mining performance could be returned for most GeForce RTX 30 series LHR graphics cards. The only exceptions are the GeForce RTX 3050 and GeForce RTX 3080 12GB models, which likely use a more advanced version of the protection mechanism compared to other models in the series. So far it hasn’t been cracked.

Mining Blocking Bypass only works on the Windows operating system and supports only the DaggerHashimoto (Etash) algorithm used in Ethereum mining.

“We are happy to announce that NiceHash QuickMiner (Excavator) is the first mining software that fully (100%) unlocks LHR cards. Now, using NiceHash QuickMiner, you can benefit more from LHR graphics accelerators than any other mining software. NiceHash miner support coming soon”said the NiceHash team.

The full unlocking of the LHR accelerators has already been confirmed by the Benchmark.pl team. They achieved GeForce RTX 3080 Ti performance at the level of 117 Mhash/s instead of 85-88 Mhash/s as before. This allows you to increase the current profitability of this graphics card when mining Ethereum up to $4 per day.
