Microsoft: Windows 11 will regularly receive new features in the future

Earlier this week, Microsoft released the first major update for the Windows 11 operating system. At the same time, it was announced that the software platform will regularly receive new features in the future, which will be delivered separately as small cumulative updates. This was announced by director of Microsoft products Panos Panay (Panos Panay).

“Today’s release demonstrates our commitment to bring features to Windows 11 that enrich and inspire people. Over time, we will add new features to Windows 11 more frequently, in addition to the annual feature update. We will use a variety of update mechanisms, including service maintenance and updates through the Microsoft Store. Our goal is to continually innovate to bring you more opportunities throughout the year.”said Mr. Panay.

Microsoft’s announcement means that new features released as part of the Windows Insider program can be made available to the public at any time. Nobody is canceling the insider testing phase of new features, but now they are being delivered to end users faster, whereas previously innovation was included in one of the two annual feature updates. This approach is also justified by the fact that Microsoft has moved to releasing one feature update per year, whereas previously two such packages were released, although one of them usually did not bring any significant innovations.
