If you don’t have a spare drive to install the new Windows 11 Insider Preview build, Microsoft can provide you with one for free. Windows Insider Program members will receive free 8GB USB drives to use as boot drives to install the latest version of Microsoft’s operating system distributed through the channel canary.

That’s right, Microsoft notes that its stocks of free flash drives are limited and likely to run out quickly, as is often the case with free giveaways, and it can take six to eight weeks to deliver a valuable shipment (by then, a new build most likely will be a second fresh build). Also, a simple request for the drive won’t work – an email invitation and verification code are required.
Perhaps more interesting than the free drive itself, Microsoft is willing to send many free products to Insiders just to get them to try the latest builds of Windows 11. This could indirectly indicate the development of some very important features. Important enough that Microsoft is willing to spend big bucks to expand its pool of testers.
It’s possible, although not confirmed, that these key features and changes from the Insider Preview Canary test channel could be available as early as the next major release of Windows. But if the rumors are to be believed, Windows 12 – or whatever it’s called – could be out as early as next year…
