Meta lost 36 places in the ranking of the best places to work in the USA

Meta Platforms, which includes Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp, lost 36 points in Glassdoor’s annual ranking of the best places to work in the United States. Mark Zuckerberg’s empire moved up from 11th to 47th place on this list, due to a severe PR crisis.

The company, which changed its name from Facebook to Meta Platforms, was among the top performers in the United States’ list of best places to work for 12 years, but at the end of last year it had its worst result in history. Glassdoor found that Meta employees spoke positively about the company and praised the autonomy of the work, the many perks, pleasant colleagues and the product with a long reach. On the other side of the scale was unwanted publicity for the company, as well as management inaction about its problems and directions of movement in the future.

Meta’s problems have entered an acute phase after former employee Frances Haugen published a large number of internal corporate documents, including on the possible harm to Instagram users for teenagers. This was followed by a series of reports in the Wall Street Journal, hearings in the US Congress and complaints with the US Securities and Exchange Commission.

In the Glassdoor rating, Meta received 4.3 out of 5 points based on feedback and reviews from its employees over the 12-month period ending in October 2021. The best place to work in the USA was NVIDIA with 4.6 points. Among the technology companies, Zoom also saw a rapid decline in its ranking, which was 100th compared to 22nd a year ago. In total, 40 of Glassdoor’s 100 companies were in the technology sector, up from 28 last year.
