Many new trojans for Android found on Google Play

Doctor Web virus analysts have identified dozens of malicious Android applications in the Google Play Store for digital content. These included advertising trojans, fake confidential information stealing programs, etc. In total, malicious applications were downloaded about 10 million times.

“In June, Doctor Web virus lab detected about 30 Android.HiddenAds advertising trojans in the Google Play catalog, the total number of downloads of which exceeded 9,890,000 <…> All of them were embedded in various programs – photo editors on the screen keyboards, system utilities, calling apps, programs for replacing the home screen wallpaper and others”the company said in a statement.

It is also noted that the activity of the Android.Spy.4498 Trojan, used by attackers to steal information from notifications from other applications, continued to decrease in June. Compared to May, this malware is 20.56% less common on Android devices. Android.HiddenAds family Trojans were down 8%, although they remain one of the most common threats.
