During a live broadcast on Instagram* Head of Meta* Mark Zuckerberg and Vice President of Instagram* In collaboration with fashion brands, Eva Chen presented the digital designer clothing store Meta* Avatar shop.
While it’s hard to say if many people really want to pay money for clothes for avatars, the company boss is confident that this will become a new way for social media users to express themselves. Virtual store starts immediately on Facebook*Instagram* and Messenger – it will start work next week, and digital outfits from Balenciaga, Prada and Thom Browne will appear in the range. Pricing for this has not yet been announced, but it is known that free options will be available.
According to Mr. Zuckerberg, in the future Meta* Avatars Store will be an open marketplace where designers and developers can sell their virtual goods. Meta-services users will be the first buyers* in the USA, Canada, Mexico and Thailand. Shortly after the launch, other fashion brands will complement the range of digital clothing.
In February, the company introduced 3D avatars for Instagram.* and allowed them to be used throughout the meta-ecosystem*including Facebook* and messenger. Direction is constantly improving: new facial expressions, skin tones, as well as accessibility features including hearing aids and wheelchairs are being added – all for more inclusion.
