CEO of Meta* Mark Zuckerberg announced the launch of Quest Plus, a “virtual reality subscription” that will give users access to “the best games on the platform.” Quest Plus costs $7.99 per month or $59.99 per year. Anyone who manages to sign up before July 31 pays just $1 for the first month. Starting Monday, it will be available for Quest 2 and Quest Pro headset users.
Quest Plus subscribers get “two games a month,” Zuckerberg explained. A similar model is used by Sony, which offers users a PlayStation Plus subscription with free games, The Verge notes. Pistol Whip and Pixel Ripped 1995 are awaiting Quest Plus subscribers in July, while Walkabout Mini Golf and MOTHERGUNSHIP: FORGE are included in the August selection.
In June 2023 Meta* introduced the Quest 3 virtual and mixed reality helmet for $499. It will go on sale in fall 2023 and will support more than 500 games and applications available for Quest 2. The Quest Plus subscription can also be used with the new headset.
