“We are exploring the idea of an offline social network for sharing text posts. We believe there is a need for a separate space where bloggers and public figures can share updates about what interests them.”– Reuters quotes an email from a representative of Meta*.

This was reported for the first time by the Indian business portal money control, indicating that the project is codenamed P92 within the company. The decentralized social network will support the standard ActivityPub protocol running Mastodon, the most well-known open alternative to Twitter, and other resources of the Fediverse space. Unlike those of Twitter and Facebook* Decentralized platforms like Mastodon are installed on thousands of servers run by volunteers – these social networks are grouped into a kind of “federation” with a standard account space similar to email addresses.

At least the first pre-release of the decentralized social network Meta* P92 will appear under the Instagram brand*and the platform is logged in via Instagram accounts.

* It is included in the list of public associations and religious organizations for which the court made a final decision, activities on the grounds of Federal Law No. 114-FZ of July 25, 2002 “On Combating Extremist Activity”.
