Recall that according to the plot, after losing the precious ring, Gollum decides to embark on a perilous journey through Middle-earth. The game follows the character from the slave in the Dark Tower to life with the elves in Mirkwood.

The story begins eight years before the start of the so-called War of the Ring and runs parallel to the first half of The Fellowship of the Ring. At the same time, according to the trailer, the wizard Gandalf will have a black beard in the game.

Alongside the black-bearded Gandalf, the two-minute trailer for The Lord of the Rings: Gollum features snippets of gameplay, Gollum’s interactions with the elves, evil men in Sauron’s service, and action scenes.

Audience opinions were divided: some call the game graphically backwards and criticize the artistic component (Gandalf’s beard, Gollum’s hair), while others are simple glad to see progress: “Looks much better than the last trailer”.

“Ultimately we do everything for the fans, we want to make them and of course ourselves happy. We hope the fans like it. That’s what we’re trying to do”— assured the writer Tilman Shanen (Tilman Schanen) in a new development diary.

The Lord of the Rings: Gollum is being created for PC (Steam, EGS), PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and S, and Nintendo Switch. The trailer confirms the release of the game in 2023. According to the Nacon report we are talking about April to September.
