Lexar NM790 drives do not have DRAM cache, but support HMB 3.0 (Host Memory Buffer) technology, which uses the system’s DRAM. The manufacturer points out that the power consumption of Lexar NM790 drives is 40% lower than that of PCIe 4.0 SSD models with integrated cache memory. The model of the memory controller is not specified, but it is noted that it is manufactured according to the 12nm process technology and conforms to the NVMe 1.4 protocol.
Sequential read and write speeds of up to 7200 and 4400 MB/s are specified for the 512 GB SSD model, respectively, and 7400 and 6500 MB/s for larger models. Random read and write performance for new products reaches 1 million IOPS. For the younger model, a rewrite resource of 500 TBW (a terabyte of overwritten information) is declared, for versions with 1 and 2 TB – 1000 and 1500 TBW.
The company notes the compatibility of Lexar NM790 drives not only with PCs and laptops, but also with PlayStation 5 game consoles. A manufacturer’s guarantee of five years applies to new items.
The manufacturer priced the 512GB Lexar NM790 drive model at £44, the 1TB and 2TB versions at £65 and £120 respectively.
