Lenovo introduced LOQ – budget gaming laptops, but with screens QHD and 165 Hz

Lenovo today introduced a new series of gaming laptops LOQ. The novelties are a more affordable incarnation of the premium Legion line of gaming laptops from the same manufacturer. The new series includes 15.6 and 16 inch laptop models.

The LOQ 15IRH8 and LOQ 15APH8 laptops have 15.6-inch IPS displays with a resolution of 2560 × 1440, a refresh rate of 165 Hz, 100% sRGB color space and a brightness of 250 cd/m22 and support for NVIDIA G-Sync image synchronization technology. AMD processor models also support AMD FreeSync Premium.

The LOQ 15APH8 model offers as a basis AMD processors up to the eight-core Ryzen 7 7840HS with a frequency of up to 5.1 GHz. For the LOQ 15IRH8 you can choose from Intel processors up to the 14-core Core i7-13700H with up to 5 GHz.

Both laptops offer up to 16 GB DDR5-5600 RAM, up to 1 TB PCIe 4.0 SSD and up to a GeForce RTX 4060 discrete graphics card. Both laptops are powered by 60 Wh batteries that can be charged via USB type Connector -C (power up to 140 W) or with a 170 W or 230 W power supply, depending on the configuration.

The connection set for new products consists of a USB-C 3.2 Gen2 (10 Gb/s), two USB-A 3.2 Gen2, an HDMI 2.1, as well as a LAN and a combo 3.5 mm audio output. The Intel-based version of the laptop offers an additional USB-A 3.2 Gen1 (5Gb/s) port. The model on AMD processors is also equipped with USB-A 2.0 (480 Mbit/s).

Lenovo LOQ 16IRH8 and LOQ 16APH8 laptops feature a 16-inch 16:10 aspect ratio, 2560 × 1600 resolution, 165 Hz refresh rate, 100% sRGB coverage and 250 cd/m2 brightness2 and support for NVIDIA G-Sync image synchronization technology. All other characteristics of these models are similar to the 15 inch versions. The difference is in the battery – 80 Wh for 16-inch models.

Each Lenovo LOQ series notebook is equipped with a MUX switch to select between the processor’s integrated graphics and discrete graphics depending on the application. Using a discrete accelerator is far from always necessary in normal office work, and turning it off can save a lot of laptop battery power. At the same time, discrete graphics should be enabled when running games when maximum performance is required.

The Lenovo LOQ 15IRH8 and LOQ 16IRH8 notebook models, which are versions based on Intel chips, will be available in April and May at prices ranging from $899.99 and $1149.99, respectively. The LOQ 15APH8 and LOQ 16APH8 models based on AMD processors are expected to go on sale in May and June at the same prices.
