Leak Reveals Mortal Kombat 1’s Unannounced New Solo Mode That Will Replace Krypt

Pre-orders for retail editions of NetherRealm Studios’ highly anticipated fighting game Mortal Kombat 1 recently began in Brazil, and one of the stores accidentally “flashed» on the box with the game, a mode that has not yet been announced.

We’re talking about a single player mode called “Invasions” (Invasions): “Journey through the worlds of Mortal Kombat and face each season’s invasions in a brand new single player mode.”.

According to Reddit forums user DeffersonCamargo, who posted a photo describing Incursions (it’s on the back of the game box), the new mode will replace Mortal Kombat 11’s Crypt.

The attached Incursions screenshot shows a character standing on the world map. Social media suggests that the mode will be similar to the Super Smash Bros. fighting game’s “World of Light.” ultimate.

A year and a half before the game was officially announced, Reddit user LK-9T9-UD4_LK-7TR shared that a mode like “World of Light” would appear in Mortal Kombat 1 — he called the novelty a map mode.

The creators of Mortal Kombat 1 have repeatedly emphasized that their project will not have Battle Passes and other attributes of game services. At the same time, the invasion description mentions the seasons, a clear sign of the service model.

Mortal Kombat 1 is expected to release September 19th on PC (Steam, EGS), PS5, Xbox Series X and S, and Nintendo Switch. From August 18th to 21st the beta test for the pre-ordered fighting game will take place on PlayStation and Xbox.
