Game designer Hideo Kojima in the first in seven years new episode of the HideoTube show spoke about the source of inspiration and the level of cinematography “next generation spy thriller” codenamed Physint.
According to Kojima, fans have been asking him to make an analogue of Metal Gear for the last eight years, however, having founded his own studio, the game designer was striving for something new – this is how the idea of first Death Stranding and then OD was born.
At the height of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, Kojima became so ill that he underwent surgery and even wrote a will: “I was at rock bottom and felt like I couldn’t go back to making games… Then I realized people were dying.”.
“I thought, since users want it so much, I should change my priorities a little. I’m still drawn to create something new, but I decided [вновь] make a spy action”Kojima recalls.
At the announcement of Physint at the Columbia Pictures studio (owned by Sony Pictures), Kojima assured that the action film would blur the line between games and films, offer almost photorealistic graphics and a new look at the interactive environment.
“This is both a game and a movie. That’s why we were at Sony Pictures. New spy action. Of course, this is a game first and foremost. But if your mom sees you behind her, she’ll think you’re watching a movie.”insists Kojima.
The release dates and platforms for Physint have not been specified, but it is known that production will start after the completion of work on Death Stranding 2: On the Beach. The release of the sequel to the courier action game is expected in 2025 on PS5.
