Previously, there were rumors that Apple would get rid of the “popping” at the top of the screen on the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max. It was assumed that the front camera, like the current Android flagships, sits in a tiny round cutout and that the TrueDepth sensors for face recognition are hidden under the screen. Well respected analyst Ross Young has theorized that the iPhone 14 Pro will get two notches in the screen.

Young said the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max will get both round and oblong cutouts at the top of the screen. At the same time, the round notch will accommodate a point IR projector with Face ID, and the elongated one will house at least a front camera and a TrueDepth sensor. Notably, Young shared a photo of the display module to be used in the iPhone 14 Pro, so that design is likely already approved. Ross Young has established himself as a trusted source of information about the displays of future Apple products so his words will not be questioned.

After previous leaks, only the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max get the new bezel design. Cheaper iPhone 14 and 14 Max get the usual bangs.
