Instagram continues to introduce new features and improve the user experience to better compete with the incredibly popular short video sharing platform, TikTok. As part of that effort, the social network began testing a redesigned way of displaying stories – vertical flipping, like in TikTok.
Last year Instagram reported that it was working on a new way to display stories. Now some social network users have access to it. Some Instagram users in Turkey and Brazil were reportedly the first to try the new way of scrolling through stories.

The update adds vertical scrolling to stories when navigating to the next user’s stories. The transition between the stories of a user takes place in the usual way – by touching the left or right side of the screen.
It is not yet known when the new function will be available to all users. As a reminder, Instagram announced last year that the social network would soon be changing and becoming more video-focused. The social network announced that it no longer wants to be a service to share square photos.
