Verified insider Tom Henderson in an exclusive material on the site Insider Gaming told us what awaits the modern setting of the games in the Assassin’s Creed series in the near future.
Shortly after the release of Assassin’s Creed Mirage, in-game data miners discovered an unused recording of a conversation between two Animus operators who spoke of the 21st century “old story” and the location of the incident “Big change”.
In the Assassin’s Creed Mirage files, the dialogue mentioned is referred to as AC Neo Teaser, that is, a teaser for Assassin’s Creed Neo (aka Codename: Hexe) – a game about a witch hunt in the 16th century Holy Roman Empire.
From a conversation with “Anonymous sources in the studio” Henderson learned that modern history in Assassin’s Creed games now exists “Pretty sure” will unfold in the future, not the present.
In particular, a significant portion of the upcoming Assassin’s Creed Codename: Red’s modern sections about feudal Japan will reportedly take place in the final decade of the 21st century (2090-2099).
According to Henderson, moving Assassin’s Creed’s modern story into the future means players will be treated to a gallery of brand new Abstergo Industries characters.
Ubisoft plans to bundle Assassin’s Creed projects on the Infinity platform. Players go through Codename: Red and Codename: Hexe and learn more about the events in the games’ “modern” setting.
