In June, Apple not only introduces an augmented reality device, but also new laptops

As part of the weekly recap, Bloomberg returned to the agenda for the Apple Developer Conference, which will start on June 5 this year. According to the source, the company will be showcasing new laptops and a long-awaited augmented reality device at the event. The list of software updates will be longer, but the watchOS 10 update will be the most notable.

Accordingly Bloomberg, the operating system for the Apple Watch, is getting its most significant updates this year since its debut in 2015. At the very least, it will have an updated user interface. At the same time, iOS 17, iPadOS 17 and macOS 14 will be presented, although according to Bloomberg officials, neither macOS nor tvOS will see any major changes this year.

Returning to the topic of the long-awaited premiere of the augmented reality device, Bloomberg talks about the timing of the new product on the market. If the original plan called for a March announcement with the subsequent appearance of the device on the market by September, after the June debut, the appearance of the headset on sale can be expected only at the end of this year. The xrOS software platform will be made available to developers later this year along with associated tools to enable the creation of augmented reality applications. The company is already working on the development of two new devices of this type: one will be more productive compared to the debut model, the second should offer a lower price.

Apple is preparing many new computers at the same time: the 15-inch MacBook Air, the updated 13-inch MacBook Air, the entry-level MacBook Pro with a 13-inch display, the updated 24-inch iMac, the first Mac Pro with an internally developed processor and updated older MacBook Pro models. All of these novelties will be launched either this year or early next year. Two new Mac Studios are also slated to debut, but there’s less certainty about their schedule.

At least a few new laptops will be unveiled at WWDC 2023 in June. They will use M2 generation processors for now. At least the 15-inch variant of this class of MacBook Air has already made its mark in the logs of the developer environment.

Software updates will be huge for the Apple Watch this year. The iPadOS 17 operating system will be the basis for next year’s iPad models based on OLED displays. For Apple smartphones, iOS 17 could be the first platform in the company’s history to allow app downloads outside of the Apple ecosystem, as required by European antitrust authorities. Such an opportunity for iPhone owners in Europe is expected to be presented next year.
