The corporate sector has become one of the fastest growing areas of digital threat – the number of attacks has increased by 50%. The peak was observed at the end of the year when attackers frequently exploited the Log4j vulnerability. Among the regions, the greatest growth was recorded in Europe (68%), North America (61%) and Latin America (38%).

“New methods of infiltrating and bypassing security systems have made the work of hackers a lot easier. The most worrying key industries have entered the list of the most severely attacked companies. “said Omer Dembinsky, Data Science Manager at Check Point Research.

For example, education and research companies were exposed to an average of 1,605 attacks per week (per organization). That’s 75% more than in 2020. In terms of government industries (military and communications), they saw an average of 1,100 attacks per week.

Dembinsky said the world is now “in a cyber pandemic”. He also anticipates an increase in attacks and new ways of circumventing defense over the next year.
