It became known that the social network Instagram* will soon increase the amount of advertising content users see while interacting with the platform. According to the available data, ads will be displayed on the “Overview” tab and on user pages, which, according to the platform developers, will open up new opportunities for advertisers.

Already Instagram* shows advertisements when scrolling through the channels on the “Overview” page. In the future, however, advertisers can place ads that are displayed immediately after switching to the “Overview” tab. Such ads are accompanied by an appropriate marker and a “Learn more” button so users can clearly see that they are facing ads. In addition, ads are displayed directly on user profiles. Currently, after clicking a photo or video in the grid on the profile page, you can view other posts in a feed view. Advertising content will appear in this feed in the future.

Instagram* stated that advertisements would only be placed in “Public profiles not intended for teenagers”. The innovation is currently being tested with the participation of a limited number of advertisers and users from the United States. When exactly the social network plans to distribute it to all users of the platform is still unknown.
