IDC: Quarterly tablet shipments flat year-over-year

The International Data Corporation (IDC) published the results of a study on the global tablet market in the second quarter of this year. It is estimated that shipments remained at the level of the second quarter of 2021.

Around 40.5 million devices were sold worldwide from April through June. For comparison: a year earlier it was 40.4 million units. For example, IDC saw a very slight increase – about 0.15%.

Analysts note that deliveries for the past quarter have beaten expectations. This is partly due to the good demand for devices from the Chinese providers Xiaomi, Oppo, Vivo and Realme.

The largest player in the global tablet market is Apple with a value of around 31.0%. Samsung is in second place with 18.1% and Amazon closes the top 3 with 13.6%. The top five also includes Lenovo and Huawei, which control 8.7% and 5.3% of the industry, respectively. The total share of all other players was 23.3%.

It should be noted that among the listed providers for shipping tablets, only Amazon was able to increase year-on-year – up 26.9%. All other companies from the top 5 were in the red.
