“I never thought I’d be scared of Big Smoke”: A free horror in the spirit of Five Nights at Freddy’s was released based on GTA: San Andreas

portal PCGamesN notes that based on the cult open-world action movie Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas an unusual free game inspired by the horror from the Five Nights at Freddy’s series has been released.

Developed by independent Polish developer Piotr Rycąbel, Grove Street 404 invites you to monitor Grove Street with surveillance cameras and report on anything unusual.

At the same time, at the bottom of the screen, there is a constant exchange of messages between the hero’s colleague and the administrator – as they move through the game, their conversation, and Grove Street itself, becomes increasingly strange and frightening.

In addition to objects, uninvited guests out “another world”. The protagonist’s task is to survive the night, but this can be more difficult than it seems at first glance.

You can try Grove Street 404 for yourself for free – half serious horror is available for download at itch.io page. A complete walkthrough (see video below) takes no more than half an hour.

In the comments on the itch.io website, users praised the developer of Grove Street 404 for an unusual concept and a neat execution and also called out fear specific character: “I never thought I’d be scared of Big Smoke”.

GTA: San Andreas was released on PS2 in 2004 and later ported to PC, Xbox, Xbox 360 and PS3. On modern platforms, the game received a second life thanks to the remaster in the Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition compilation.
