Huawei to build world’s largest energy storage facility in Saudi Arabia

At the 2021 Global Digital Power Summit in Dubai, Huawei Digital Energy Technology and Shandong Electric Power Construction signed a contract to build the largest existing storage facility in Saudi Arabia.

The 1,300 MWh system will be built as part of the Red Sea New City project to create the city of Neom, which represents a strategic framework for reducing the country’s dependence on oil by 2030. The new city of Neom is located on the coast of the Red Sea and Saudi Arabia strives to meet the needs of the entire community with only renewable energy sources.

Huawei Digital Energy Technology was founded as recently as June 7, 2021. Its legal representative is Hu Houkun, Chairman of the Board of Huawei.
