A few days after the announcement of the Mate 60 and Mate 60 Pro smartphones, the Chinese company Huawei presented the oldest model of the new series, the Mate 60 Pro+. It’s based on the usual Mate 60 Pro model, albeit with some improvements, such as more memory.

Huawei itself does not announce which processor is used in the novelty. However, according to reports, this is still the same Kirin 9000 that made a splash and debuted in the Mate 60 Pro. It is manufactured in the facilities of the Chinese company SMIC using a 7nm process technology. According to the GSMArena portal, the eight-core chip contains one Cortex-A720 core with a frequency of 2.62 GHz, three Cortex-A720 cores with a frequency of 2.15 GHz and four Cortex-A510 cores with a frequency of 1 .53GHz. The accelerator Maleoon 910 is responsible for graphics processing.
The smartphone offers 16 GB of RAM (the regular Mate 60 Pro only has 12 GB) and 512 or 1 TB of storage. The latter can be expanded by a further 256 GB with the support of Huawei Nano Memory (NM) memory cards in the proprietary format.
The Mate 60 Pro+ features the same 6.82-inch LTPO OLED screen as the regular Pro, with three holes on top for a 13MP ultra-wide selfie camera, 3D ToF sensor, and Face ID -sensors. The screen resolution is 2720 × 1260 pixels. It is based on a 10-bit panel with support for adaptive refresh rates from 1 to 120 Hz. The display sensor speed is 300 Hz. The PWM dimming frequency is 1440 Hz, thanks to which screen flickering is almost imperceptible. The display is protected from scratches by durable second-generation Kunlun glass. The smartphone itself has an IP68 certification for dust and moisture resistance. The manufacturer states that it can be submerged under water to a depth of 6 meters for up to half an hour.
The device’s main camera set includes a 48-megapixel sensor with optical stabilization, laser and phase-detection autofocus, and a variable aperture of f/1.4-f/4.0. To help him, they provided a 48-megapixel telephoto module with optical stabilization, phase-detection autofocus and f/3.0 optics, as well as a 40-megapixel module for wide-angle shooting with an f/2.2 aperture. The Mate 60 Pro model uses a 12-megapixel wide-angle module. The main camera of the Mate 60 Pro+ can record 4K@30/60fps videos.
The Huawei Mate 60 Pro+ packs a 5,000mAh battery that supports 88W fast wired charging, 50W wireless charging and 20W reverse wireless charging. The device claims to support Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2, LDAC and L2HC audio codecs, an NFC module and an infrared port. The specifications of the device say nothing about the support of 5G or 4G networks.
Like other devices in the Mate 60 series, the new Mate 60 Pro+ also supports satellite communication. At the same time, you can use it not only to send text messages, but also to make calls. The Tiantong satellite is used for this, writes GSMArena. Details of what type of subscription is required in this case are not given.
Deliveries of the Mate 60 Pro+ smartphone are expected to start on October 9th. The official price of the device is still unknown. However, the novelty can already be pre-ordered by paying a deposit of 1,000 yuan (about 135 US dollars). The smartphone will be available in black and cream-white housing variants. For comparison, the Mate 60 Pro model with 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage costs 7,000 yuan ($950). According to insiders, prices for the Mate 60 Pro+ start at 9,000 yuan, or $1,220.
