Horizon Forbidden West was not released in 2021 as the studio wanted to avoid rework

Horizon Forbidden West Development Lead Mathijs de Jonge in an interview with a Dutch publication NOW explained why Guerrilla Games’ open-world action-adventure came out later than promised.

Recall that Horizon Forbidden West was originally scheduled for release during the 2021 winter break, but it was revealed back in August that the premiere was pushed back to February 18, 2022.

Then de Jong said that Guerrilla Games didn’t have time to refine the project in the previously announced time frame, and now he explained why: because of the studio’s anti-editing policy.

Horizon Forbidden West went on sale today for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. De Jong addressed the players on behalf of the entire team on the occasion of the release and presented a eulogy trailer for the project.
