Honor introduced the Magic Vs Book smartphone – simpler and more reliable hinges, no gap and a price starting from $1050

At a large-scale two-day event in China, Honor announced the Honor Magic Vs foldable smartphone with a flexible screen. The device is thinner and lighter than its predecessor thanks to an updated folding mechanism design that allows the phone to be closed without leaving a gap.

The smartphone runs on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 platform, which has already lost the title of the latest model, but has not lost its relevance yet. In addition to last year’s versions with 12/256 GB and 12/512 GB of RAM and storage, a less productive configuration with 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of internal storage is now available. Honor Magic Vs also supports the recently launched Magic Pen that connects via Bluetooth.

The foldable 7.9-inch OLED display offers a resolution of 2272 x 1984 pixels with a refresh rate of up to 90 Hz – the same specifications as last year’s model. The 6.45-inch external screen has a resolution of 2560 × 1080 pixels at 120 Hz and supports HDR10+. The folding mechanism has been revised by the manufacturer and no longer contains 92, but only 4 parts. Tests in Honor Labs have shown that it can withstand up to 400,000 folds, ie more than ten years of operation at 100 folds per day.

The triple camera setup includes a 54-megapixel Sony IMX800 main camera with an f/1.9 lens, a 50-megapixel wide-angle lens that can also be used for macro photography, and an 8-megapixel lens with 3- x optical zoom. There is also a 16-megapixel front camera with f/2.45 optics on the front. The 5000 mAh battery supports 66 W fast charging – the battery is charged from 0% to 100% in just 46 minutes. The software platform is MagicOS 7.0, based on Android 12.

The Honor Magic Vs is available in orange, blue and black. The basic version in the 8/256 GB configuration will cost $1050, the middle version with 12/256 GB of storage will cost $1120, and the top version with 12/512 GB will go on sale for $1260 . The foldable smartphone will debut in China, with the first customers receiving their devices on November 30. In other countries, Honor Magic Vs may appear in the first quarter of 2023.
