GPD XP Plus modular game console gets Dimensity 1200 chip and Wi-Fi 6 adapter

The GPD XP Plus gaming console, an upgraded version of the GPD XP portable modular device that went on sale last fall, has been announced.

Like the original model, the novelty is equipped with a 6.81-inch touchscreen with a resolution of 2400 × 1080 pixels at a refresh rate of 60 Hz and 84 percent coverage of the NTSC color space. Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protects against damage.

Instead of the MediaTek Helio G95 processor, the MediaTek Dimensity 1200 chip is now used, which combines eight cores with a frequency of up to 3.0 GHz and the Mali-G77 MC9 graphics accelerator. LPDDR4x-4266 RAM is used, and a faster UFS 3.1 module is installed instead of a 128 GB UFS 2.1 stick. There is also a microSD slot.

Another change affected the means of wireless communication. The novelty received a Wi-Fi 6 controller instead of Wi-Fi 5. Fast charging of 65W is supported compared to 20W of the previous version.

Thanks to the modular design, you can change the control units in the side part – to work with games of different genres. The equipment includes a 5-megapixel front camera, a USB Type-C port, stereo speakers and a 3.5mm headphone jack.

Android 11 operating system with GPD Metro UI add-on installed. Nothing was announced about the price.
