A few weeks ago, information surfaced that Google is preparing to release branded smartwatches. Now the IT giant has confirmed the existence of the Pixel Watch. However, the current announcement cannot be called complete, since the device will only be launched in the fall and the manufacturer has not disclosed all the details in advance.
Visually, the Pixel Watch doesn’t look surprising. As expected, the watch received a round display housed in a recycled steel case. Next to the wheel on the side of the case is a physical button, which is one of the controls for the gadget. Google smartwatches come with branded interchangeable straps with an original attachment system.
Pixel Watch is running “improved” Versions of Wear OS 3 with “updated user interface”, which includes improved navigation and smart notifications. As for the software, the novelty will receive support for Google’s proprietary applications, and will also be tightly integrated with the Fitbit monitoring system. Support is reported for the emergency SOS function, which allows you to quickly contact a person of trust or an emergency service if necessary.
Obviously, the Pixel Watch is designed to help Google market its own ecosystem. Support for branded applications such as Google Maps, Google Home, Google Assistant, as well as integration with the Fitbit platform, make the device more attractive to potential buyers. Unfortunately, at this time, Google has not disclosed all of the gadget’s characteristics, nor has it announced its retail price. Obviously this will happen closer to the official launch later this year.
