The issue was reported in the Pixel thread by Reddit users, most of whom were using current and previous generation Pixel phones. The culprit appeared to be a Google app that was showing unusually high background usage in the battery stats. Attempts to reset or reset were unsuccessful. The company also cited the Google app as the root cause of the issue due to the change to the app’s backend. The released patch fixes this shortcoming.
