At the opening of the Google I/O developer conference, many interesting new products were shown to the general public, including the upcoming flagship smartphones Pixel 7, the Pixel 6a, the smartwatch Pixel Watch, but also announced future innovations such as tablets and AR glasses. At the same time, the IT giant introduced the Pixel Buds Pro wireless headphones, which will become the company’s highest quality product in this category and will be a direct competitor to Apple AirPods Pro.
Visually presented novelty and charging case are strongly reminiscent of Pixel Buds 2020. One of the features of the headphones is the presence of a 6-core chip, on the basis of which the active noise reduction system works, which can adapt to the user’s environment. Support for spatial audio is reported, but unlike the AirPods Pro, the Pixel Buds Pro lack head tracking. This feature is expected to be available at a later date.
Not everyone likes the tight feeling in their ears from the silicone ear tips, but it seems the developers at Google have done a good job of ensuring the company’s new headphones fit everyone. The Pixel Buds Pro have such sensors “Measure the pressure in the ear canal so the eartips can release it to help the user avoid discomfort.”.
The device also supports a “Transparency” mode, the use of which allows the user to hear ambient sounds while playing audio. The Bluetooth multipoint function is supported, which automatically switches between the devices in use.
As for autonomy, with the noise canceling off, one charge is enough to play music for 11 hours. Using the noise canceling function shortens the battery life to 7 hours. The headphones themselves are protected from moisture according to the IPX4 standard, the case is IPX2. A USB Type-C interface is provided for charging the case, and wireless charging is also supported.
The Pixel Buds Pro will be available in black, blue, green, and red colors for $199. Google’s new earbuds will be available for pre-order starting July 21, with retail sales starting July 28.
