Gigabyte Technology has announced that all existing motherboards based on the Intel Z690 and Intel B660 chipsets, as well as future models, will be able to use AMD EXPO technology in addition to Intel XMP.
Remember that the AMD EXPO (Extended Profiles for Overclocking) system for DDR5 RAM modules was designed to simplify RAM overclocking due to the presence of ready-made settings profiles. In fact, EXPO is an alternative to Intel XMP 3.0 technology.
As noted by Gigabyte, AMD AM5 processor motherboards can use both AMD EXPO and Intel XMP tools. Similarly, on motherboards based on Intel Z690 and Intel B660 for Intel LGA 1700 (Alder Lake) chips, you can enable Intel XMP and AMD EXPO profiles in the BIOS settings.
A new BIOS version with XMP and EXPO support for Gigabyte motherboards with Z690 and B660 chipsets will be available for download soon at corporate website.
