The International Data Corporation (IDC) has published a fresh forecast for the global market for personal computers and gaming monitors. Analysts believe that this segment will continue to grow in the coming years.
Both desktop systems and gaming laptops are taken into consideration. Last year, shipments of such devices globally amounted to approximately 41.3 million units. At the same time, about 14.2 million gaming-grade monitors were sold in 2020.
This year, despite the shortage of electronic components, the demand for gaming PCs and displays continues to grow. So, in the second quarter, a total of 15.6 million devices were sold in these categories, which is 19.3% more compared to the second quarter of 2020.
In 2025, as predicted by IDC, shipments of gaming desktops and laptops will reach 52.3 million units, and gaming monitors – 26.4 million units. Thus, the CAGR (compound annual growth rate) in these segments will be 4.8% and 13.2%, respectively.
It is also noted that the volume of the global market for gaming PCs and displays in monetary terms will rise from $ 43 billion in 2020 to more than $ 60 billion in 2025. The CAGR for this period is projected at 7.4%.
