Publisher Dear Villagers and developer of independent Swedish studio Grenaa Games officially presented his fabulous city building strategy Fabledom. The announcement was accompanied by a gameplay trailer.
The events of Fabledom take place in a strange world where fairy tales have become reality. Players must build a settlement from scratch and turn it into a thriving kingdom with castles, barracks, farms and lands.
As in any fairy tale, Fabledom users must resist evil (in the form of neighboring colonies), find their handsome prince or princess, and marry him/her for love (or by calculation).
After choosing the right place for his village, players must collect resources, establish manufacturing, trade and economic relationships with their neighbors, recruit an army and choose their champion to defend or conquer.
The developers promise advanced negotiation mechanics, the ability to seduce neighboring kings/queens (novels seriously hamper gameplay), decorations and useful upgrades for buildings, and a bunch of secrets.
Fabledom is positioned as a friendly and accessible city building simulator. The developers took inspiration from such neighbors of the genre as Foundation, Kingdoms and Castles and the game series The Settlers.
The fairy tale will become a reality next spring when Fabledom enters Early Access steam. You can try the game as part of the upcoming Steam Next Fest demo festival, which will take place from February 6th to 13th.
