AMD FSR3’s advanced temporal scaling technology includes Motion Fluid Frames, a frame generation solution similar to that in NVIDIA DLSS3. According to the patch notes, FSR3 is compatible with AMD Radeon RX 5000, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 20, Intel Arc A7 and newer graphics cards. The technology is also supported by other GPUs, but in this case you have to do without frame generation – it is activated separately.

Square Enix has even identified FSR3’s first known issue, namely a framerate drop on monitors with refresh rates of 240Hz and higher. It appears when the image generator and the vertical synchronization function (V-Sync) are activated at the same time – in such cases it is recommended to deactivate the latter.

The 30 MB patch is already available on Steam, so owners of compatible hardware can already try out AMD FSR3. Square Enix hasn’t given media early access to the update, so it’s unlikely we’ll see day one reviews.
