Accordingly ReutersDhirendra Prasad is suspected of at least five counts of abuse of power as Apple’s chief procurement officer – he implemented his plans with the help of stakeholders in the company’s supply chain.

According to the investigation, Prasad negotiated with vendors and placed orders, and Apple paid them based on the invoices he issued in the purchasing system. Allegedly, Prasad received kickbacks, participated in stealing components with bogus repair requests, and also instituted schemes whereby Apple paid for goods and services it never received.

In addition, the former Apple employee is accused of tax evasion and money laundering. It is known that Apple fired him in 2018 after 10 years of work.

Two sales company owners involved in the Prasad conspiracy were found guilty of carrying out fraudulent schemes back in December. The former employee of the company will be officially charged on March 24th. Prosecutors are insisting, among other things, on the seizure of property and other assets of the alleged fraudster in the amount of several million dollars.
