The analysts from the Market Intelligence & Consulting Institute (MIC) have made a forecast for the global 5G smartphone market for the coming years. The share of such devices in total sales will continue to grow steadily.
In 2021, an estimated 1.35 billion smartphones of all types were sold worldwide. Of these, 548.8 million were devices with a 5G modem. The share of such devices in the total delivery volume thus reached 40.1%.
This year, shipments of 5G devices are expected to increase by 38.9% to 762.5 million units. As a result, the proportion of smartphones supporting fifth-generation cellular communications will reach 53.7%.
Starting this year, 5G-enabled models will dominate the new smartphone segment.

In the coming years, sales of 5G devices will grow steadily. Thus, in 2023, deliveries of 922.7 million units are expected, and the share will reach 63.4%. In 2024, sales of 5G models could reach 1.08 billion units, accounting for 72.4%. Analysts assume that 1.19 billion units of such devices will be shipped worldwide in 2025, the share is 78.1%.
