“For us, Miyazaki is father and grandfather at the same time”: The developer of Lords of the Fallen spoke of painful parallels to the Elden Ring

The fact that the developers in The Lords of the Fallen tried to surpass Dark Souls and were afraid of the release of Elden Ring (and did not look back), representatives of Hexworks told Edge earlier.

According to Virtosu, the start of the Elden Ring promotional campaign for the team was disappointing when Hexworks was featured in the FromSoftware hit. “Breakthrough [для жанра] Weapon” – Chain: “It Killed Us Inside”.

Even more shocking for Hexworks was the fact that one of the bosses created for The Lords of the Fallen turned out to be “almost an exact copy of Malenia” (see screenshot below). The resemblance (what exactly she is expressing is not yet clear) was not intentional.

Virtosu added that many fans are hoping for similar gameplay elements in The Lords of the Fallen (open world, mounted combat) after the release of Elden Ring. This creates additional pressure on the team.

At the same time, Virtosu pays tribute to the team behind game designer Hidetaka Miyazaki, whose work inspires Hexworks: “Miyazaki is both father and grandfather to us. Without him we wouldn’t have a job.”.

The release of The Lords of the Fallen is expected later this year in versions for PC (Steam, Epic Games Store), PS5, Xbox Series X and S. Earlier, the authors explained the name of the game and introduced a number of new screenshots.
