The day before, two unexpected things happened for Mortal Kombat fans: series co-creator Ed Boon became a guest on the Hot Ones show, which in turn premiered a special appearance by Mortal Kombat 1’s Johnny Cage.

Said skin is characterized by mirroring the appearance of actor and martial artist Jean-Claude Van Damme, who is partly responsible for the existence of Mortal Kombat.
Once upon a time, the artist refused to appear in the game (it was to be called Van Damme: The Arcade Game) by the team of future Mortal Kombat co-writers Boone and John Tobias, and the developers had to come up with something of their own.
Van Damme’s appearance in Mortal Kombat 1 appears to be straight out of the ’80s (see the Bloodsport and Kickboxer movies), and the design most closely resembles the Johnny Cage original – shorts, belt, loafers.
In a short (only six seconds) clip, Van Damme was shown as Johnny Cage (classic Sonya Blade in hand) preparing to fight another Johnny Cage at his Hollywood home.
“We tried several times, negotiated. This time we won the lottery and got it [Ван Дамма]. We have his voice actors, he will be Johnny Cage.said Boon on the release of Hot Ones.
Mortal Kombat 1 is expected to release September 19th on PC (Steam, EGS), PS5, Xbox Series X and S, and Nintendo Switch. The Van Damme skin is included in the paid Kombat Pack 1, Premium Edition and Collector’s Edition.
