Netflix has released the poster and a new subtitled teaser for “Vikings: Valhalla.” The preview highlights epic battles, with numerous extras and visual effects, as well as revealing the release date of the super production.
The new series is a continuation of the plot of the recently closed “Vikings” developed by the same producer, Michael Hirst. But it takes place a century after the exploits of Ragnar Lothbrok and his sons, focusing on the adventures of other famous Vikings such as Leif Eriksson, Freydis Eiríksdottir, Harald Harada and William the Conqueror, England’s first Norman king.
The connection with the characters of the previous series is given precisely by William, who is a direct descendant of Rollo, Ragnar’s brother, whose rise in the Frankish monarchy (present-day France) was shown in “Vikings”.
This time, Hirst will play a less active role – he is developing several historical series simultaneously – , leaving the direction of the stories in charge of the showrunner Jed Stuart – who is none other than the screenwriter of the classic films ” Die Hard ” (1988) and ” The Fugitive” (1993).
In turn, the cast highlights Sam Corlett (Caliban from Chilling Adventures of Sabrina), Pollyanna McIntosh (Jadis from “The Walking Dead”), Jóhannes Jóhannesson (Ice King Cumber in “Cursed”), Frida Gustavsson (“Swoon”), Leo Suter (“The Liberator”), Bradley Freegard (“Keeping Faith”), Laura Berlin (“Immenhof – The Adventure of a Summer”), David Oakes (“The Pillars of the Earth”) and Caroline Henderson (“Tuya Siempre”).
The premiere was scheduled for February 25.
