Remember that the exclusive Epic Games Store deals were announced at launch literally in batches, while recently the number of such ads has been significantly reduced. However, Epic Games does not want to do without practice.

According to Sweeney, Epic Games hasn’t changed its philosophy on exclusivity, but has concluded from experience that the strategy works best on large releases, while smaller gaming audiences are in no hurry to switch to EGS.

Ellison named Borderlands 3 one of the most successful Epic Games Store exclusives in this regard, Shooter Gearbox Software and 2K “has clearly exceeded all expectations of developers and publishers”.

Part of Epic Games’ exclusive strategy is the relatively new publishing arm that will fund and publish Alan Wake II, as well as new games genDESIGN (The Last Guardian) and Playdead (Inside).

The projects listed are exclusive to EGS on PC. “long time”. A new game from Epic Games Publishing from a small studio will be presented at the GDC 2023 conference on March 20-24, and a series of announcements will be prepared by the end of the year.

Ellison emphasized that some studios were seeking temporary exclusivity of their games in the EGS without a deal, but to achieve more favorable placement terms. For example, because of this, Rockstar has delayed the release of the PC version of Red Dead Redemption 2 on Steam.
