Elon Musk has denied rumors about reducing Twitter staff to 1300 people – there are many more employees

A while ago there were rumors that only 1,300 employees remained at Twitter. In fact, Twitter has significantly more staff, Elon Musk said in response to previously released information about the ongoing mass layoffs on Twitter.

The Consumer News and Business Channel (CNBC) recently reported that Twitter’s headcount has shrunk to around 1,300 active employees, leaving fewer than 550 full-time key engineers. About 75 of the company’s 1,300 employees are on furlough, including about 40 engineers, a CNBC report said, citing internal documents.

“The message is wrong. Twitter has about 2,300 active employees, — said Elon Musk. — There are still hundreds of employees working on the trust and security team, as well as several thousand contractors.” Musk also noted that fewer than 10 people from his other companies are now working on Twitter himself — earlier there were reports that Musk is actively recruiting executives from Tesla and his other companies.

Musk took over Twitter in October and quickly implemented a series of sweeping changes to the organization’s products, services, and policies. The company offered the “Verified by Twitter” blue tick as a paid service and laid off more than 50% of its employees.
