Recall that on October 7, EA Sports Group CEO Cam Weber announced that the company is considering renaming its football franchise.

As it turned out, even before the announcement – on October 1 and 4, Electronic Arts applied for registration of EA Sports FC in UK Intellectual Property Office and European Union Intellectual Property Office respectively.

According to Weber, in the event of a breakdown in relations with FIFA, Electronic Arts will retain the rights to football licenses (leagues, players, stadiums) obtained as a result of agreements with its other partners.

FIFA 22 debuted on October 1 this year on PC (Steam, Origin), PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and S, as well as Google Stadia. At the start, the football simulator attracted over 9 million users, who played 460 million matches.
