After several months of rumors and leaks, the American publisher Electronic Arts officially confirmed the upcoming renaming of its series of football simulators to FIFA – from 2023 the games of the franchise will be called EA Sports FC.
As promised, the separation from FIFA will not affect the football licenses Electronic Arts has received from its other partners: 19,000+ athletes, 700+ teams, 100 stadiums and 30 leagues.
In addition, EA Sports FC retains the well-known FIFA game modes: Career, Ultimate Team, Pro Clubs and Volta Football. Electronic Arts will announce more details about the future of its football series in the summer of 2023.
EA calls EA Sports FC a symbol of change (in the future) and a new independent platform that will offer the company opportunities for innovation, creativity and growth.
Before the end of the agreement with FIFA (expires in December), the publisher wants to release FIFA 23 – without a doubt the best and most comprehensive game in the series that has ever existed.
The company strives to ensure that the next FIFA can offer users “More features, game modes, World Cup content, clubs, leagues, competitions and players than any previous FIFA”.
“We exist to shape the future of the football world – virtual or real, digital or physical, football is all of that. Thank you for your continued support”— thanked Electronic Arts fans at the end.
