Chinese car group Nio will soon release its own smartphone called Nio Phone. Qin Lihong, co-founder and president of the company, said during a recent conference call that the company will unveil a new product on September 21, and a week before that, on September 15, the presentation of the updated EC6 electric crossover will be held.

William Li, founder and CEO of Nio, said at the Nio Day 2022 event last December that the company is already developing smartphones and plans to release a new model every year, just like Apple.
The Nio Phone smartphone has already received the approval of the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) and has been spotted in the benchmark, so some of its characteristics have become known. Notably, Nio Phone supports UWB ultra-wideband, which allows it to be used as a digital key for Nio electric vehicles. The smartphone will also support 5G communication technology.
Qin Lihong pointed out that the introduction of smartphones will improve the competitiveness of Nio cars. Driving a vehicle is expected to become more convenient and convenient with the integration of a smartphone into electric vehicle systems.
