The manufacturer will release two versions of the water block with direct contact. The EK-Quantum Velocity² Direct The D-RGB 1700 Limited Edition is limited to 100 pieces. Each water block is numbered from 1 to 100. Another distinguishing feature is the gold-plated cover of the liquid circulation chamber.

The second version of the waterblock is called EK-Quantum Velocity² Direct Die D-RGB 1700 Nickel + Plexi. It is equipped with an acrylic liquid circulation chamber and a nickel-plated copper base.

Included with these new products are: the water block itself with direct contact to the processor chip, a special mounting frame EK-Exact Mount and an interchangeable ILM fastening mechanism designed for installing the water block, thermal interface packaging in the form of Thermal Grizzly Conductonaut liquid metal, two sponges to ensure safety when applying liquid metal to the processor chip.

Using these LSS water blocks involves scalping 12th and 13th Gen Intel Core processors. In other words, they have to remove the metal covers, which immediately voids the user’s processor warranty. This procedure is very risky, but EK offers a safe scalping tool. It comes with the EK-Quantum Velocity² Direct Die D-RGB 1700 Limited Edition water block. In addition, it can be purchased separately.

In addition, the company has released a special mounting plate that strengthens the LGA 1700 processor socket and prevents it from bending under the pressure of the installed cooling system.

The famous German enthusiast and overclocker Roman “der8auer” Hartung took part in the development of these products.

All presented novelties of EK Water Blocks can already be pre-ordered in the company’s online store, EK Webshop, as well as in its partners’ retail chains. Deliveries of new products will begin in mid-February. The company has priced the EK-Quantum Velocity² Direct Die D-RGB 1700 Limited Edition water block at €349.90. The acrylic block version costs €199.90. The EK-Quantum Velocity² IHS Removal Tool costs €74.90 while the EK-Quantum Velocity² Direct Die 1700 Upgrade Kit is available for €109.90.
